Forces of the Alpha Quadrantby ~Itsomi

another one based in my ongoing RP. the USS enterprise-D and its smaller taskforce heads at warp 9 towards the core of dominion space to stop the Terran Alliance.

because its an alternate timeline, I'll tel you a bit about the ships in this, how they differ from normal ST.all this history takes place after DS9 found the wormhole, unless stated.

USS Melbourne (excelcior class). acting as a supply workhorse, the ship trundled form starbase to starbase. eventually gaining popularity when its crew singlehadedly stopped a romulan plot to use a planet's inhabitants as biological test subjects. the Melbourne became the Enterprises wingmate, backing it up whenever it left federation space. on stardate 52112.2 the Melbourne was acting as backup for the enterprise, whilst holding at starbase 12

USS Defiant (deifant class). the defiant acted as a scoutship, ans workhorse. eveyr month it would dock at DS9, but it wasnt permanently docked there. it jsut stayed in the secotor. on stardate 52112.2, the defiant was finishing up targeting calabration in an asteroid feild when shortly later it recieved a priority 1 message from starfleet HQ. it told the ship to gather in sector 675 with the enterprise.

USS Trinculo (galaxy class). a deep space exploration vessel, exploring sector 676, adjacent to the enterprises sector. it was called in after starfleet gave the message, and was one of the first ships to arrive and respond to the order.

USS Stargazer (constelation class). after its return to the federation by the ferengi, the Stargazer was tested for spaceworthyness. it passed all tests, and was eventualy refitted to current standards. it reentered service a year before the terran incident. it was part of a supply run in a nearby sector, and responded to the starfleet order to reinforce.

IKS Neg'til (Negh'Var class). a klingon flagship, it was the lead ship in the klingon taskforce that arrived. its captian was thirty for battle, and so answered the call of the worrior with pride and eagerness. it gathered a taskforce of tis own, and then headed to sector 675.

IKS Delin (vor'cha class). the Neg'til's permanent escourt, it travelled with it to the rondevu point, and then headed to sector 675.

Maybe you should cut down on the motion blur by just a little bit.

I should warn you, though, Galaxy-class starships make VERY poor warships. They make better interstellar hotels than fighting ships.

well, i need the enterprise, cause its the enteprrise. you cant haver an intergalactic event without it!
and the Trinculo is there cause it was there. galaxy class starships, by weapon to size ratio do suck. but, their weaponary comapred to other starships is still impressive, thats why they were used in the dominion war i suppouse.
aslo, in the RP, its very much a scrambel, of who gets there first.

...and the hotel but is a bonus!

They were used in the Dominion War because Starfleet used every ship they had. They even scrapped stuff together; if there were five ships partially completed in spacedock, they'd throw them all together into one finished ship just to have something out there fighting. They were really caught somewhat unprepared during the Dominion invasion...which is why they even used the crappy lounge hotels - erm, Galaxy class starships.

If they had a choice, though, I'm sure they would have sent out an armada of purely Akira-class ships...maybe a couple Steamrunners thrown in for good measure.

if they had time, it woulda been a Galaxy-drednoughts, defiants, akiras and steamrunners only event.
woulda been pretty cool though, purely fed warships. alas, the utopian style dosnt allow it. I'm fine, as long as i get to see mirandas explode hopelessly
